Critical Role has an official map for the main setting of Campaign 4, but it hasn’t been unveiled yet.
Since the launch of Campaign 4, fans have been eagerly awaiting a map reveal from Critical Role. The world of Aramán has been vividly brought to life by Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan, allowing us to almost picture the rugged peaks of Riesingürtle and the enveloping shadows of the Eternal Night. Yet, despite knowing that a map of Pasitar, the continent where Campaign 4 unfolds, exists in the players’ binders, we haven’t seen it publicly.
Thanks to Liam O’Brien and Taliesin Jaffe, who portray Halandil Fang and Bolaire Lothalia in Campaign 4, we’ve learned that Mulligan has also crafted a map of the city of Dol-Makjar, though it remains under wraps for now.
In a recent video interview, O’Brien and Jaffe expressed their surprise that the Dol-Makjar map hasn’t been shared yet. “That seems like an oversight on our part,” Jaffe remarked. “There is a map, I swear. It’s beautiful.”
O’Brien added that Mulligan has not only created a map of the world and the city but also sketched the surrounding countryside of Dol-Makjar. However, he noted that this map is quite old, leaving us uncertain if it will ever be revealed or if the world-building for Campaign 4 has evolved to the point where it no longer accurately reflects Mulligan’s vision.
While it may seem like a missed opportunity, it’s still unclear when or if Critical Role will unveil the Dol-Makjar map. In the meantime, sharp-eyed fans on Reddit have spotted what they believe to be the Dol-Makjar map in episode 20, “The Vanishing.” After some enhancements, they feel they have a clearer idea of the city’s layout. Until an official map is released, fans will have to rely on their imaginations to visualize the bustling city that serves as a key backdrop for much of Campaign 4’s action.
