Critical Role’s latest campaign will showcase popular VTuber stars.

Critical Role is gearing up for an exciting new venture with an unexpected twist. The beloved media company, known for transforming Dungeon & Dragons into a multi-platform entertainment juggernaut, is teaming up with Cover Corporation’s Hololive Production, a prominent virtual YouTuber (VTuber) agency from Japan, to launch Shattered Legends. This new actual play miniseries will be set in the rich world of Exandria and is set to debut in mid-November 2026.

This collaboration is particularly thrilling for fans of Critical Role’s earlier campaigns—Vox Machina, The Mighty Nein, and Bells Hells—all of which are also set in Exandria. According to the announcement, Shattered Legends will be considered “canon” within that universe, which means viewers might catch appearances from fan-favorite characters like Grog, Scanlan, Jester, Yasha, Fearne, and Imogen. However, unlike the main campaigns, Shattered Legends will utilize Daggerheart, the tabletop RPG developed by Critical Role’s own publishing division, Darrington Press.

Matthew Mercer, co-founder of Critical Role, will take on the role of Game Master for Shattered Legends, while fellow co-founder Marisha Ray will be the sole member of the regular cast participating as a player. She will be joined by Hololive’s Nerissa Ravencroft, Mori Calliope, Shiori Novella, and Gig Murin. The format blending in-person gameplay with digital avatars remains to be fully revealed. Fans can catch Shattered Legends on Critical Role’s streaming platform, Beacon, along with exclusive content such as a “Session Zero” that dives into character creation and backstories, as well as post-episode “Cooldown” discussions. Episodes will also be available on the official YouTube channels of Critical Role, Nerissa Ravencroft, and Hololive English.

Beyond the actual play miniseries, there are exciting plans for Shattered Legends, including a promotional tour across conventions in North America, Europe, and Asia. Exclusive merchandise and additional collaborations are also in the works, with more details to come.

For fans of Critical Role looking for more Daggerheart content, this new miniseries is a welcome addition, following the acclaimed Age of Umbra: Sallowlands. The collaboration with VTubers promises to give this show a fresh look, potentially drawing more attention to the TTRPG scene. Shattered Legends is set to premiere in mid-November 2026 on YouTube and Beacon.
