Crunchyroll Increases Subscription Rates During Jujutsu Kaisen’s Current Season

Crunchyroll is joining the wave of recent streaming service price increases by adjusting its membership costs.

Starting March 4, the Fan tier will rise to $9.99/month (up from $7.99), the Mega tier will be priced at $13.99/month, and the Ultimate tier—which includes access to Crunchyroll’s manga library and the ability to stream on six devices simultaneously—will now be $17.99/month.

This price hike comes at a challenging time for many anime enthusiasts, as we’re in the midst of an exciting winter anime season featuring hits like Jujutsu Kaisen season 3, Fire Force season 3, and Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End season 2.

Crunchyroll has positioned this increase as a way to provide fans with more of what they enjoy, emphasizing that this is the first price adjustment for the Fan tier since 2019.

This change follows closely on the heels of Crunchyroll discontinuing its free ad-supported tier, which allowed viewers to access a limited selection of its library without charge.

Last year, Netflix also raised its prices, with Disney+ implementing similar increases across various regions in late 2025.

Despite the disappointing news for anime fans, there’s still a lot to look forward to this year. A new Dragon Ball series has been announced, and One Piece is set to return after a brief hiatus with the Elbaph Arc this April. Additionally, Bleach will wrap up this summer, while The Apothecary Diaries is gearing up for a major third season this fall, along with an unexpected movie release in December.
