Currently, the Only Way to Experience Fallout: New Vegas on PS5 Is Glitchy
Streaming PS3 games via PlayStation Plus Premium, Sony’s top-tier subscription, has been experiencing issues for at least two weeks. This comes at a particularly inconvenient time, as the second season of Fallout has many PS5 players eager to revisit the PS3 classic, Fallout: New Vegas.
Two weeks ago, a user on the PS Plus subreddit created a thread titled “Got a problem with Streaming on PS5,” detailing their inability to launch Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two from the cloud gaming service. After some troubleshooting, it became clear that others were encountering the same issue. Every PS3 game available for cloud streaming seemed to be failing to load for all subscribers—no error messages, no attempts to start, just silence. A recent attempt to launch Fallout: New Vegas and other PS3 titles from the PS Plus library on PS5 confirmed the problem.
As the situation unfolded, numerous threads emerged on the subreddit, highlighting the widespread nature of the issue. It has escalated to the point where moderators have begun deleting individual threads and directing users to a single megathread for discussion.
Some players have found temporary workarounds, like launching cloud titles directly from their libraries instead of the store, but this fix is inconsistent and doesn’t work for everyone. Currently, the top comment in the moderator-created PS+ Criticism Thread indicates that the problem persists. One user expressed frustration, noting, “Insane this had been broken for nearly 2 weeks and no comms or fix.”
In response, some fans have reached out to PlayStation Support for clarity. A support team member reportedly confirmed that Sony is aware of the issue, which specifically affects PS3 titles in the Classic Catalog. However, there’s still no information on the root cause or a timeline for a fix. Sony has not provided any immediate comments on the situation.
