Dave Filoni’s Star Wars film is currently on hold, but it was set to feature characters from Skeleton Crew along with beloved figures from The Mandalorian and Ahsoka.

Dave Filoni’s upcoming Star Wars film is set to unite characters from the Mando-verse, with familiar faces from 2024’s Skeleton Crew also making an appearance. However, it seems we’ll have to wait a bit longer to see this project come to life.

Reports indicate that the film is currently on hold, but it was intended to feature characters from Skeleton Crew alongside those from The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka, all teaming up against the formidable Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Initially announced at Star Wars Celebration in 2023, the untitled film is said to take place between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. Filoni mentioned in 2024, “Because I’ve been writing [Ahsoka season 2], things have clicked, and I have a much better idea about where things are going to go. I will say, I have an opening I really like quite a bit; I’m very excited about it for that picture. I’m excited about the potential of just doing it.”

Filoni, who previously served as Lucasfilm’s chief creative officer, is now co-president of the studio alongside Lynwen Brennan, taking over from Kathleen Kennedy, who led for 14 years following Disney’s acquisition of Star Wars in 2012.

The next cinematic offerings from Lucasfilm include The Mandalorian and Grogu, along with Star Wars: Starfighter, both directed by Jon Favreau and Shawn Levy. The former continues the beloved Disney+ series, while Starfighter introduces an original narrative featuring new characters portrayed by Ryan Gosling, Matt Smith, and Mia Goth.

The Mandalorian and Grogu is set to hit theaters on May 22, with Star Wars: Starfighter following on May 28, 2027.
