Dawnwalker Developers Provide Solutions for Key PC Issues

Vampiric RPG The Blood of Dawnwalker has launched on PC with its fair share of issues, which isn’t surprising given the genre’s history. Developed by a team of veterans from CD Projekt, it’s expected that some hiccups would arise. Fortunately, Rebel Wolves is already on the case, working to address the main concerns and providing workarounds for common problems.

Currently, The Blood of Dawnwalker boasts a solid score of 84 on Metacritic for its PC version, along with 75 percent positive reviews from over 1,400 players on Steam, indicating that the launch isn’t a total disaster. These scores are particularly noteworthy considering the inevitable comparisons to The Witcher 3. However, some issues stand out more than others, such as the inability to remap buttons on a PS5 controller and the requirement to run in fullscreen for optimal performance. The most pressing issue, where the game crashes during initial shader compilation, has a relatively straightforward—if somewhat tedious—solution.

The crashing problem seems to stem from outdated BIOS on Intel Core CPUs, which conflicts with Oodle and Unreal. Intel identified this issue back in 2024, so players experiencing crashes should definitely check for updates on their systems.

The performance issues in windowed or borderless modes are a significant letdown, and the suggested fix of switching to fullscreen isn’t ideal. Hopefully, this will be improved in a future patch.

Another frequent complaint not covered in the update is the lack of basic accessibility options. The UI text and subtitles are quite small, and there’s currently no way to adjust their size, which can be quite frustrating. It’s hoped that the developers will take note of this feedback and implement changes soon.
