DC Introduces a New Justice League Team

DC Comics has unveiled an exciting new Justice League series at New York Comic-Con, and fans have been buzzing about it. Titled **Absolute Justice**, this miniseries kicks off in April and will bring together heroes from the Absolute Universe, including Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern (Jo Mullein), and Flash (Wally West) for a thrilling five-issue run.

Although Martian Manhunter’s previous series has wrapped up, he won’t be disappearing from the scene. Reports indicate that he will play a crucial role in assembling the team for **Absolute Justice**. While some characters, like Batman and Wonder Woman, have crossed paths before, this marks the first time the entire team will unite in the Absolute Universe. Notably, **Absolute Justice** will not disrupt any ongoing series, making it a unique event in the comic landscape.

The trailer for the miniseries sets a dark tone, ominously warning that Darkseid and the other “true rulers of this world” have a chilling message for the heroes: “Abandon all hope.” The five-issue saga is set to launch in April 2027, with Jason Aaron at the helm as writer and Juan Ferreyra, known for his work on Green Arrow and Spine-Tingling Spider-Man, handling the artwork.

In addition to **Absolute Justice**, the panel revealed other exciting news. Cliff Chiang will step in for Absolute Batman artist Nick Dragotta on the upcoming Barbara Gordon issue #26 in January. A new one-shot featuring Absolute Black Canary is also on the horizon for next year, following her introduction in the pages of Absolute Green Arrow, which began as a six-issue miniseries and expanded to twelve.

The Absolute Universe has proven to be a significant success for DC Comics, with both **Absolute Batman** and **Absolute Wonder Woman** earning nominations for Best New Series at the 2025 Eisner Awards, where **Absolute Wonder Woman** took home the award. This line of comics has redefined DC’s heroes by stripping them down to their essence; for instance, Batman is portrayed without his butler, mansion, or wealth. Additionally, an **Absolute Batman** animated series was announced in June, further expanding the character’s reach.

In a shocking twist, the Joker from the Absolute Universe finally reveals his true face, and it’s more horrifying than anyone could have anticipated.
