DC reveals a new superhero brawler, but it’s not the one fans were expecting.

DC has unveiled a new fighting game, but before you get too excited, it’s not Injustice 3. I know, I know—you were hoping for Injustice 3, and so was I. But this is something different.

Introducing DCKO, a mobile game set to launch in 2027. And yes, I might have accidentally called it Dicko earlier; it’s an easy mistake to make since that’s what everyone will likely end up calling it anyway.

DCKO is a 2v2 tag fighter featuring both online multiplayer PvP and single-player modes, developed by Drop Fake. Creative director Gene Campbell emphasized the importance of this game representing a major advancement for mobile fighting games. “Live multiplayer games between players are core to the spirit of fighting games, and we are proud of the work we’ve done to bring this feature to mobile comic book fighters for the first time,” he stated.

The game will include a mix of well-known DC heroes and some lesser-known characters. Expect to see Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, along with Zatanna, Constantine, Blue Beetle, and Katana among the 19 confirmed fighters so far. The full roster can be found on the game’s website, with additional characters set to be revealed monthly.

DCKO shares a name with a recent event in DC Comics that featured a tournament with dozens of characters and even included crossover figures like Homelander from The Boys and Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat. Interestingly, during that event, no one referred to it as Dicko, which might have been a missed opportunity for the game to avoid confusion with its title. Despite the similar names, DCKO and the comic event don’t appear to be connected.

You can preregister now for DCKO’s open beta, with the full game expected to drop in 2027 for both iOS and Android.

As for the future of Injustice 3, it remains uncertain. NetherRealm Studios released Injustice 2 back in May 2017, which feels like ages ago. Since then, they’ve launched two Mortal Kombat titles, and while there’s been no official word on what’s next, fans are holding out hope for another Injustice installment.
