D&D Welcomes Crossovers with World of Warcraft and Star Wars
Dungeons & Dragons is diving into its most ambitious multiverse project yet, kicking off with a new expansion inspired by World of Warcraft. The upcoming sourcebook, D&D: World of Warcraft, will transport players to Blizzard’s iconic Azeroth setting and is set to launch on November 17th.
In addition, a collaboration with Star Wars has been revealed, taking place during the Rebellion era. While details are still under wraps, this project is anticipated to release in 2027. Both initiatives are part of the “D&D Universes Beyond” program, which aims to expand on the successful Universes Beyond series that debuted with Magic: The Gathering in 2021. Although the crossover approach has received mixed feedback from Magic fans, the collectible card game remains a strong performer for its parent company.
D&D: World of Warcraft builds on the updated 5th edition Player’s Handbook, introducing rules for all 13 World of Warcraft classes within the tabletop RPG framework. Players can expect a wealth of new spells, magic items, and professions, along with 11 new WoW-themed player species. Additionally, six new subclasses are included, such as the Oath of the Ebon Blade and Oath of the Holy for Paladins, the Demon Hunter Ranger, and the Shadow Domain and Discipline Domain for Clerics, as well as the Path of the Elements Barbarian.
