Deadpool in Marvel Rivals: A Jack-of-All-Trades Hero
Deadpool is set to join the fray in Marvel Rivals with the arrival of Season 6 on January 16, and he’s breaking the mold by taking on any role he desires—Duelist, Vanguard, or Strategist. In a fun twist, Deadpool himself shared in the Marvel Rivals Dev Vision video that he’s been listening to the community’s “constant chatter” about the need for more Vanguards and Strategists, so he decided to step in and cover all three roles.
But that’s just the beginning of what makes Deadpool unique. In a clever meta twist, he earns XP during matches based on how “stylish” his moves are. This XP can be used to enhance his abilities through a comic book, adapting to whichever role he’s playing until he humorously claims the title of “server admin.” As a Duelist, he wields dual pistols and katanas to slice and shoot his way through enemies. When he takes on the Strategist role, those same weapons can be used to target allies for healing. If he’s frontlining as a Vanguard, he can toss out unicorn plushies that create shields to protect teammates and absorb incoming damage.
From the gameplay trailer, it’s clear that Deadpool is a force to be reckoned with, zipping around the battlefield and unleashing a barrage of visual effects, whether it’s a chibi Deadpool whacking an opponent with a hammer or a flurry of mini Deadpools that make the action chaotic. True to his reputation as the Merc with a Mouth, he’s also non-stop with the banter, which might wear thin over time but definitely fits his character.
Alongside Deadpool, Season 6 will introduce a new map set in the Collector’s museum, a photo mode, a dueling arena, significant changes to hero proficiency rewards, and major balance adjustments for heroes and team-ups. Midway through the season, another hero, Elsa Bloodstone, will join the roster, keeping the momentum of new hero releases going strong.
