Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle’s Streaming Launch Could Face Additional Delays

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle may not be in the running for an Academy Award this year, with honors going to KPop Demon Hunter, but it’s still making waves in Japan. This film has made history as the first anime to be shown in IMAX in the country. Although it premiered last summer, Infinity Castle is making a comeback in theaters with an extended 1.43:1 aspect ratio, indicating that fans might have to wait a bit longer for a digital release, and even longer for it to appear on streaming platforms.

The film will be back in Japanese theaters for just one day on February 6, yet it continues to break records, suggesting there’s no immediate need to rush its home release while audiences are still eager to experience it on the big screen. Additionally, a special fan event is scheduled for January 24 across ten theaters in Japan, where fans are encouraged to cosplay and cheer for their favorite characters.

If the Blu-ray and DVD release in Japan doesn’t happen by February, it could mean that Infinity Castle won’t be available on streaming or digital platforms anytime soon. However, things can change rapidly. The franchise is set to host an event at AnimeJapan 2026 this March, which might finally provide fans with updates on the future of the Infinity Castle trilogy, including potential release dates for upcoming films, digital and streaming plans, or even surprises like a television adaptation similar to what was done with Mugen Train.

A few months back, a source cautioned fans not to expect Infinity Castle on streaming in 2025, and that warning seems to hold true. Mugen Train didn’t make its exclusive debut on streaming until June 22, 2021, a full eight months after its theatrical release on October 16, 2020. Considering this timeline and Infinity Castle’s initial release in July, it’s likely that we’ll start hearing more about its streaming availability as early as March.
