Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle Part 2 – What We Know So Far
It’s been just over a year since *Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle* hit Japanese theaters on July 18, 2025. Following its global release in August, the film raked in an impressive $793.5 million at the box office, making it the highest-grossing Japanese film ever and the top international film in the U.S.
After a long wait, *Infinity Castle* is now available for streaming on Crunchyroll, and you can also rent or buy it on platforms like Prime Video, Apple TV, Fandango at Home, and YouTube Movies & TV.
With a year passed since the film’s theatrical release, fans of *Demon Slayer* are eagerly wondering: when will the next chapter of the saga arrive?
Parts 2 and 3 of *Infinity Castle* have been confirmed. Animation studio Ufotable announced the *Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle* trilogy in 2024, following the conclusion of the show’s fourth season, revealing it would adapt the manga’s *Infinity Castle* arc.
While Ufotable hasn’t shared any recent updates on Part 2, there’s a good chance we’ll hear something later this year. Every December, the manga publisher Shueisha hosts its Jump Festa convention, where significant announcements are often made. Shueisha is the publisher of *Weekly Shōnen Jump*, the magazine that serialized the *Demon Slayer* manga from 2016 to 2020. It’s likely that the next major news about *Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2* will come during this event.
Currently, there’s no trailer for *Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2*. We can expect to see a first look once the film has an official release window. The previous film’s trailer dropped about a year before its theatrical debut.
As for the release date of *Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2*, there hasn’t been any direct confirmation, but it’s reasonable to assume it won’t arrive until 2027. The first film in the trilogy took three and a half years to animate, with Ufotable starting production alongside the show’s third season.
The first season aired in 2019 with 26 episodes, followed by the second season about a year and a half later, from 2021 to 2022. The third season aired in 2023, the fourth in 2024, and the first *Infinity Castle* film released in July 2025. Given this release pattern, a 2027 launch seems plausible. If the film were set for 2026, Ufotable would likely have announced it by now, especially since the previous installment was revealed a year in advance.
*Demon Slayer* is set in an alternate version of 20th-century Japan, where humanity has been locked in a battle against demons for centuries. These supernatural beings are former humans transformed into monsters, vulnerable only to specific methods of destruction, such as sunlight or decapitation with Nichirin alloy swords.
The narrative follows Tanjiro Kamado, a teenager who pledges to protect his sister Nezuko after their family is brutally murdered by demons. He joins the Demon Slayer Corps, a group dedicated to fighting these vampire-like creatures for generations. Alongside fellow recruits Zenitsu and Inosuke, Tanjiro trains and grows stronger through combat. He eventually discovers that all demons trace their origins back to Muzan Kibutsuji, the very being responsible for his family’s demise.
The first *Infinity Castle* film depicts Tanjiro and the top members of the Demon Slayer Corps as they corner a wounded Muzan, who escapes into his lair, the Infinity Castle. This stronghold is a constantly shifting, non-Euclidean space filled with Muzan’s most formidable allies. After becoming separated, the Demon Slayer Corps members must navigate this treacherous environment while trying to eliminate Muzan before he can regain his strength.
The first film in the *Infinity Castle* trilogy adapts 17 out of 44 chapters from this arc of the manga. Once the *Infinity Castle* arc wraps up, there’s still one more segment of the story that spans 22 chapters. While the next two *Infinity Castle* films could potentially cover the final quarter of the manga, this seems unlikely given that it has taken four seasons and two films to adapt the first 156 chapters. At this pace, it’s very possible that the story won’t reach its conclusion for another two to three years.
