Diablo 4’s New Paladin Class: A Divine Powerhouse That Revives the Fun of Diablo 2

Now that players have had a few days to dive into the highly anticipated Paladin class in Diablo 4, which is available for those who pre-ordered the Lord of Hatred expansion, it’s clear that Blizzard has struck gold.

Fans of the franchise have been eagerly awaiting the Paladin since the game’s launch, and judging by the early feedback, the wait has been well worth it. If there’s one thing Blizzard has learned from the Diablo 4 community throughout its rocky update journey, it’s that players thrive in chaotic, unbalanced environments, and it seems the new Paladin is delightfully overpowered.

Content creator Rob2628 shared some jaw-dropping damage figures he’s achieved with the Paladin’s uncapped legendary nodes. “Paladin has fully uncapped Paragon Legendary Nodes while any other Class Paragon caps at around 45% or 60% damage. I love the new Class being powerful, but maybe this is a bit too crazy?” he remarked, adding in a follow-up tweet that he’s been dealing “100s of trillions” of damage after just three days of experimenting with his Paladin build.

With these multipliers, damage is soaring into the hundreds of TRILLIONS just three days in.

As expected from someone who has been covering Diablo 4 for years, the community response has been overwhelmingly positive. “Big numbers, big fun – let’s go,” one player commented.

Another chimed in, “hush hush, don’t run it for people having fun ;)”

On Diablo subreddits, the enthusiasm is even more pronounced, with a new subreddit dedicated entirely to the class and build crafting.

“I am having a wonderful time,” said the top comment on a recent thread. “The Paladin takes me back to D2, the new AI is very good, and the new features of divine blessings are great. I stopped playing just because I got Doom TDA and it took my free time away, but with this expansion and the Holy fighter, I’m so back to D4.”

“Paladin is great! Skills feel good and impactful and synergistic,” another player noted. “Game so far is WAY more fun than it has been in ages.”

“So insanely fun,” added another.

As someone who jumped back into Diablo 2 right after finishing Diablo 4’s main campaign and has only returned for sporadic play sessions, I’m seriously tempted to grab the Lord of Hatred expansion and explore the new Paladin after researching and writing this piece. If you’re feeling the same urge, it might be wise to act quickly, as there’s no telling how long it will be before Blizzard tones down this overpowered holy warrior.
