Dive into Soulframe, the free fantasy successor to Warframe, available to play now!
If you’ve been eager to dive into Soulframe, now’s your moment! As part of the TennoCon tradition, Digital Extremes is inviting anyone who has registered to participate in the playtest for the current version of Soulframe: Preludes.
Currently, Soulframe: Preludes is in a closed pre-alpha phase, allowing players to help test this fantasy multiplayer RPG. While you can sign up anytime to express your interest in joining these playtests, new players are only granted access periodically.
TennoCon is typically one of those key moments, and this year is no exception. If you register before 11:59 PM ET on July 12, you’ll secure your spot in Soulframe: Preludes. In a conversation ahead of TennoCon, lead designer Scott McGregor shared the team’s excitement and apprehension about welcoming a wave of new players.
“It’s exciting and always terrifying because it’s a flood of people and you pray the hardware survives, that the servers don’t crash, and that they don’t all get stuck in the same sthipot or find a bug that we missed. It’s fun in that way, but it also makes for some sleepless nights.”
Once you gain access to Soulframe: Preludes, you’ll be able to explore some of the features showcased during the latest Devstream, including a new boss named the Mendicant Reinbreaker and a unique sword-whip weapon. Plus, you’ll be set for future updates, such as the addition of mounts coming this fall.
While these features are sure to excite players, senior community manager Sarah Asselin is particularly focused on gathering feedback regarding the new-player experience from this influx of testers.
“It is always scary to have an influx of people, but it’s really, really useful because what we gain from that is new players giving fresh feedback, fresh perspectives on all of our systems,” Asselin noted. “I’m always particularly interested in the new-player experience, and when you have new players, you get more feedback on the new-player experience.”
If you’re ready to experience Soulframe for yourself, be sure to sign up on the game’s website before 11:59 PM EDT on July 12. Currently, Soulframe: Preludes is only available on PC, and Digital Extremes has yet to announce a timeline for the full 1.0 release.
