Doctor Doom Joins the Fight in Marvel’s Retro Beat-‘Em-Up with Upcoming DLC Release
Doctor Doom has taken the Marvel Comics universe by storm, and he shows no signs of slowing down in 2026. Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal of Doctor Doom is set to make waves with his appearance in December’s Avengers: Doomsday, and just recently, Doom has been leading a squad of fighters in Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. But that’s not all—Doom will also be front and center in an upcoming DLC.
On Monday, developer Tribute Games announced The Siege of Castle Doom for its retro beat-’em-up. This paid DLC promises to put the notorious Doctor Doom at the heart of a brand-new game mode, along with two new playable characters. However, details about these characters and whether Doom himself will be playable remain under wraps.
The Siege of Castle Doom will mark the second DLC for Marvel Cosmic Invasion, following a character pack that introduced Cyclops and The Thing to the side-scrolling action earlier this summer. These characters joined a lineup that features iconic heroes like Spider-Man and Wolverine, as well as some lesser-known figures like Phyla-Vell and Beta Ray Bill.
The game has been well-received, boasting an 84% Critics Recommend score on OpenCritic. As noted in a review, Marvel Cosmic Invasion captures the essence of classic arcade games, offering a straightforward, enjoyable experience that shines in cooperative play.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion: The Siege of Castle Doom is set to launch in fall 2026 for Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. Specific release dates and pricing details have yet to be revealed.
For Doom, blocking Thor’s hammer with just two fingers is child’s play.
