Dragon Ball Super Anime Set to Make a Comeback with The Galactic Patrol Arc
Fans of Dragon Ball, get ready to celebrate: Shenron has answered your call! While you might not be able to transform into a Super Saiyan, there’s exciting news on the horizon with a new anime series, Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol. This was revealed during the Genkidamatsuri event, which marked the 40th anniversary of the Dragon Ball franchise.
Akio Iyoku, president of Capsule Corporation Tokyo and executive producer of the Dragon Ball series, confirmed that production on Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol is already in progress. However, no release date has been set yet. Given the nature of the announcement, it seems we might be waiting a while for this new installment. But don’t worry, fans will soon have more Super content to enjoy, as a remake of the first part of the anime, titled Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, is scheduled to air in fall 2026.
Details about Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol are still limited, but Iyoku did share a visual featuring Goku and Vegeta, hinting at the series’ direction.
Dragon Ball Super continues the legacy of Dragon Ball Z, initially launching with the films Battle of the Gods and Resurrection ‘F’, before expanding into a full-fledged franchise that includes both an anime and a manga, the latter illustrated by Toyotaro under the guidance of Akira Toriyama. While the anime concluded rather suddenly in 2018, the manga has kept the story alive with fresh arcs until Toriyama’s passing in 2024. The future of Super was uncertain, especially with the introduction of Dragon Ball Daima, a new series set between the original and Dragon Ball Super.
Now, fans of this beloved franchise can breathe easy as Goku and his allies will continue their adventures. Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol will follow the story after the Universe Survival arc, where Goku and Vegeta team up with the Galactic Patrol, the galaxy’s peacekeepers, to face a formidable new foe, Planet-Eater Moro.
It’s heartening to see the franchise carry on after Toriyama’s passing. For countless fans around the globe, Dragon Ball has been more than just a series; it’s a lifelong companion that will thankfully endure.
