Dune: Awakening Update Allows Server Changes Without Creating a New Character
With the latest patch, players of Dune: Awakening can finally enjoy a long-awaited feature: character transfers.
This new capability is the standout addition in the 1.2.40.0 update. According to the patch notes, players can now transfer their character, inventory, bases, vehicles, and bank contents (including Solari) to a new Sietch and World.
Since its launch in June 2025, many players have been eager to move their characters to different servers, often due to their current servers becoming less populated and inactive, hindering their progress. Funcom had hinted at server transfers being in development since the game’s release, but the wait has been longer than many anticipated.
Now that the feature is live, players can shift their character and base to another server, but there’s an important restriction: transfers are only allowed from one official server to another official server or to a private server. Moving from a private server to a public one isn’t permitted, likely due to the more controlled nature of private servers, which could provide an unfair advantage.
To initiate a transfer, players should first back up their base and vehicle using the designated tools—failing to do so will result in their loss. It’s also wise to store all valuables in the bank before proceeding, as players will be informed of any items that will be lost prior to confirmation. Once ready, head to Hagga Basin to start the transfer, and if all goes smoothly, you’ll spawn at Griffin’s Reach on the new server.
Keep in mind that you receive a transfer token that refreshes weekly, allowing for one server transfer per week. Enjoy your new adventures!
