Dune: Awakening’s PS5 Release Coming Soon with Single-Player Mode

Funcom made a splash at the June 2026 PlayStation State of Play by announcing the release date for Dune: Awakening on PS5, along with a new single-player mode. Gamers can look forward to diving into the world of Dune on September 22 for both PS5 and Xbox Series X, with the single-player mode launching simultaneously for console and Windows PC.

The console version of Dune: Awakening will feature all the updates Funcom has rolled out since its initial release in summer 2025. Players can expect quality-of-life improvements, such as expanded storage options and enhanced vehicle recovery methods if you find yourself separated from your ride. Additionally, there are significant upgrades for base storage and backup, and the bugs that caused issues at launch have been addressed, meaning no more getting stranded in the desert if a worm decides to snack on you.

Moreover, the console version will incorporate major additions that have been introduced on PC over the months, including new story chapters, specializations for your character, and extra maps and combat zones with customization options. These elements, along with the gear earned from conquering these zones, represent the endgame content that was missing at launch.

Since the game’s debut, Funcom has released DLC packs that mainly offered cosmetic enhancements like outfit color variations and vehicle skins. However, while they’ve dubbed the PS5 launch the “definitive edition,” there’s been no word on whether these DLC packs will be included. Details about Dune: Awakening’s single-player mode and how it stacks up against the MMO-style gameplay are still under wraps, but more information is expected as the September 22 launch date approaches.
