Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition Set to Launch on Switch 2

Nintendo Switch 2 owners can finally look forward to diving into Elden Ring on August 28. The Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition will bring the acclaimed open-world action RPG to the Switch 2 in its entirety, featuring both the base game and the upcoming 2024 expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree.

Players on Switch 2 will also enjoy new starting classes and some cosmetic enhancements with the Tarnished Edition, including fresh armor sets and customization options for the in-game mount, Torrent. Unlike Switch 2 players, those on other platforms will need to purchase these new cosmetic items, referred to as The Tarnished Pack DLC, though pricing details have yet to be revealed.

The arrival of Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition has been highly anticipated. The Switch 2 port was first announced back in April 2025 during a major showcase for the new console, alongside other notable titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Hogwarts Legacy, Street Fighter 6, and Hitman World of Assassination.

Initially set for a 2025 release, Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition faced delays after a less-than-stellar presentation at last summer’s Gamescom. However, recent demonstrations of the Switch 2 port have shown significant improvements, indicating that the developers have successfully optimized the game for Nintendo’s hybrid console.

Elden Ring is already available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, and it was named Game of the Year in 2022 by a prominent outlet.
