Elgato Launches Compact Wireless Microphone for On-the-Go Creators

Elgato has established itself as a leader in creator-focused hardware for powerful desktop setups, and now it’s shifting gears to cater to creators on the move with its debut wireless microphone, the Wave Go. Priced at $99.99, this compact mic clips onto your clothing, similar to DJI’s Mic Mini, making it perfect for vlogging and content creation without the hassle of wires.

Weighing in at just seven grams and about the size of an AirPod, the Wave Go is designed to be unobtrusive on camera. Elgato promises “broadcast-quality” audio thanks to its condenser capsule, which features EQ shift, auto gain, and noise cancellation capabilities.

The Wave Go attaches securely with a magnetic clip and plate, and it includes a single button for powering on or muting the microphone. A quick double-press of the button can even launch your phone’s camera app.

Elgato has also introduced a Smart Handle for the Wave Go, which transforms it into a full-size interview microphone. The mic easily slots into the top of the Smart Handle, which includes a power and mute button along with an LED indicator for power, mute, and pairing status. This handle doubles as a charger, providing five additional charges, which translates to a total of 48 hours of recording time at around eight hours per charge. Plus, a quick 10-minute charge gives you about an hour of recording.

The USB-C receiver is designed for mobile devices, making it compatible with iPhones, Android devices, and iPads. It connects to the microphone using a 2.4GHz wireless signal, avoiding Bluetooth and keeping latency at around 24ms or less. All components, including the Smart Handle, microphone, and USB-C receiver, fit neatly into the included case, although the case lacks an integrated battery, so the Smart Handle is essential for on-the-go charging.

Additionally, Elgato has launched a Wave Go mobile app that allows you to monitor live audio levels, enable noise reduction, toggle automatic leveling, and check battery status. You can also use the Wave Go with a desktop PC via Elgato’s Wave Link 3.0 software by simply plugging the receiver into a USB-C port.

The Wave Go is now available for $99.99 (€99.99 / £99.99), and if you want to capture a second voice, an additional mic transmitter can be purchased for $29.99.
