Epic Denies Fortnite Conspiracy Claim About Jefferey Epstein’s Survival
Epic Games has dismissed rumors linking a Fortnite account with the username matching a YouTube account owned by Jeffrey Epstein to the late financier. The company labeled it a “ruse” allegedly created by random Fortnite players trying to spoof the alias that surfaced in last week’s release of Epstein files.
This clarification came after a wave of viral conspiracy posts online suggested that Epstein was still alive, fueled by the activity of a Fortnite account believed to be associated with him, despite his death on August 10, 2019. The most notable post about the littlestjeff1 Fortnite account originated from user Pirat_Nation on X.
The post showcased several screenshots from the 3 million newly released Epstein files by the Department of Justice, arranged in a pinboard style to imply inconsistencies surrounding the convicted felon’s death. One document indicated that Epstein had a YouTube account under the username littlestjeff1 and had purchased a film titled Frenzy on October 25, 2014. Another document included a $25.95 receipt for Fortnite V-Bucks dated May 7, 2019, although it did not mention the littlestjeff1 username.
A Fortnite account registered as littlestjeff1 was found using Fortnite Tracker. This account was active during Fortnite’s Chapter 5, Season 1, which kicked off on December 3, 2023. This led to speculation that Epstein’s death was faked and that he was hiding out somewhere playing Fortnite. The idea that the account was active in Israel further fueled theories about Epstein potentially having ties to the Israeli government.
The situation escalated to the point where the official FortniteStatus account addressed Pirat_Nation’s post directly to debunk the theory. “A few days ago, an existing Fortnite account owner changed their username from something totally unrelated to littlestjeff1, following the revelation of littlestjeff1 as a name on YouTube,” the company stated on February 6. “These Fortnite trackers only display your current name, not any prior changes to it.”
Epic also clarified that they have “no record of the subject’s email addresses referenced in the public document existing in the Epic account system.” They noted that since the public document listing the littlestjeff1 account was released, several individuals have “created Fortnite accounts with similar-looking email addresses and usernames.”
While the identity behind the Fortnite V-Bucks purchase in the Epstein files remains unclear, it is known that he had an Xbox account, which was banned by Microsoft after he became a registered sex offender.
