Ex-Burnout Developers Crafting a New Star Wars Racing Game
A new Star Wars game was unveiled at the Game Awards 2025, and it’s a departure from the typical single-player RPG experience. Enter Star Wars: Galactic Racer, an adrenaline-fueled racing game crafted by a team of former Burnout developers.
This title is being developed by Fuse Games, a studio established in 2023 by veteran Criterion developers. Star Wars: Galactic Racer appears to be a spiritual successor to the classic Star Wars: Episode I Racer. Check out the first trailer:
And yes, that’s the infamous podracer Sebulba making an appearance at the end of the trailer.
“There’s a lot of affection for Sebulba within our team and the broader Star Wars community,” said Matt Webster, co-founder of Fuse Games. “His inclusion in our trailer has specific reasons, along with a detail in this shot that might raise even more questions… but we’ll save those answers for later!”
In an intriguing twist, Webster mentioned that Galactic Racer will incorporate some roguelike elements, allowing players to make choices on their path to becoming the top racer in the galaxy.
Set after the fall of the Empire, Galactic Racer takes place during the same era as the sequel trilogy. The game, along with Sebulba, is slated for release in 2026 on consoles and PC.
