A new PlayStation State of Play has arrived, showcasing a wealth of trailers and major announcements, including the highly anticipated Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse. This marks the return of a major 2D title in the iconic 40-year-old series. If you missed it, yes, there’s a new Castlevania game in the works, and it looks incredible. Set in medieval Paris, it follows Richter, the successor to Trevor Belmont, as he battles monstrous creatures lurking in the shadows. Armed with the legendary Vampire Killer whip, Richter is ready to take on the bloodthirsty foes.
What’s particularly exciting is that this game is being developed by Konami, Evil Empire, and Motion Twin. For those who don’t know, Motion Twin is the talented studio behind the indie hit Dead Cells, while Evil Empire contributed to the 2018 roguelike’s Return to Castlevania DLC and The Rogue Prince of Persia.
According to a recent blog post from Sony about Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, the game not only captures the beloved aesthetic of its predecessors but also stays true to the series’ roots. Expect colorful characters, formidable enemies, secrets to uncover, and a wealth of mysteries to explore. It’s designed for long-time fans and newcomers alike. With the connection to Castlevania: Nocturne, I’m sure many new players will dive into the franchise when Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse launches. Stay tuned for more updates!
