Exciting New Warframe and Soulframe Updates Revealed at TennoCon 2026

Every year, countless players of Warframe and Soulframe converge in London, Ontario, the headquarters of Digital Extremes, to discover the latest developments in their favorite games. At last year’s TennoCon, the team unveiled an exciting new expansion that will transport players to Tau, a fresh solar system. They also introduced three new Protoframes and opened the doors of Soulframe to newcomers.

This year promises even more thrilling announcements regarding the future of Warframe and Soulframe, both live on stage at TennoCon and through a Twitch stream for those watching from home. As highlighted in the schedule, a Soulframe Devstream has just wrapped up, and Warframe enthusiasts should tune in for the 4:30 PM EDT TennoLive 2026 showcase.

As in previous years, Warframe players can access a special in-game Relay orbiting Saturn to participate in an event synchronized with the TennoLive stream.

Digital Extremes is excited to welcome a new wave of players into Soulframe. If you register on the game’s website before 11:59 PM EDT on July 12, you’ll gain access to the Soulframe: Preludes pre-alpha playtest.

For those who join the Soulframe: Preludes this weekend, a new boss named the Mendicant Reinbreaker awaits. Defeating this boss will allow you to befriend the horse it rides in the future.

During the Devstream, it was confirmed that a new Fable called Warsongs will be introduced in Soulframe: Preludes this fall. This will feature the Vadagar Pact, a new “corrupted player progression path” that offers more aggressive abilities.

We got a sneak peek at Ben Starr’s character, an antagonist named Tempest Bayor, but more details will be revealed during the TennoLive showcase later tonight. Additionally, Jennifer English, known for her role as Maelle in Expedition 33, will voice a new character, the Empress of Eldveil. Her character made a brief appearance at TennoCon 2025, and she participated in the Devstream panel.

Later this year, players of Soulframe: Preludes will be able to use befriended animals as mounts, and a fishing minigame is also on the way to the pre-alpha.

After an earlier tease during the Devstream, we received a more detailed look at Soulframe’s Warsong Fable. This demo showcased some exciting beaver gameplay and provided a closer look at Ben Starr’s new character, mounts, and the Vadagar Pact. If you’re interested in Soulframe but won’t be participating in the Preludes pre-alpha tests this weekend, this is definitely worth checking out.

The major highlight at TennoCon 2026 is the announcement that the Tau expansion will launch later this year. Almost every other reveal ties back to this expansion in some way. As the name suggests, this expansion is set in the Tau System, moving away from the Origin System.

With this expansion come two new locations: the ring city of Fornax and another yet-to-be-revealed area, along with a new enemy faction known as the Fornax Drowners. Make sure you’re up to speed on Warframe’s story content to dive into Tau when it releases.

At the heart of Warframe: Tau’s narrative is a new, noir detective-like Warframe named Brysko. He was designed to confront The Hunra, a crime boss who rules Fornax using a substance called Bloom. Brysko is primarily a melee-focused character but also wields an Exalted magnum revolver known as The Corecracker.

Even more exciting, he’s voiced by Matt Mercer! A highly sought-after voice actor for Warframe, he’s well-known as the GM of Critical Role and has lent his voice to numerous games.

Creative director Rebecca Ford mentioned that she told Mercer, “I have the perfect piece of Warframe mythos for you to put your mark on as a brand new character.”

In addition to the main content, Warframe: Tau will introduce Portau, a unique card game inspired by poker. While Portau is just a minigame, it’s likely to keep players engaged with Tau’s content long after they complete the main story. Players can enjoy Portau in Fornax’s casino within the Tau system.

For those who enjoy cosmetics in Warframe, a new collection of Heirloom gear for Mesa is now available to celebrate TennoCon 2026. This sharpshooter frame features a stylish pair of chaps and a helm that blends a cowboy hat with bull horns.

August’s iteration of Warframe’s free Nightwave battle pass will take a different approach, as it will be part of a Warframe: 1999-inspired event called Amir’s Shockwave. This event will not only introduce new cosmetics but also feature a new song, Running Late, created by the in-universe boy band On-Lyne. Rebecca Ford teased some details about the song in an interview.

Alongside Amir’s Shockwave, Digital Extremes will launch a new minigame: Fables & Frontiers, a pen-and-paper roleplaying game that Rebecca Ford humorously noted is “legally distinct” from any other RPGs you might know. Longtime Warframe players will recognize Amir’s ongoing attempts to get the Hex crew to let him DM an F&F campaign.

A dedicated room in the Höllvania mall will now showcase Amir’s Fables & Frontiers set, and the game’s K.I.M. messaging system will expand to include a text-based adventure that players can enjoy with the Hex.

In addition to the Tau expansion, Warframe will receive a free Iceblade of Narin update this fall, bringing significant changes to the game. The most notable change is a complete rework of Banshee, which has been discussed in interviews. This update will also introduce a new ice-themed female Warframe, Prime gear for Citrine, and Deluxe gear for Qorvex. More details about this update will be revealed on September 4.

TennoCon 2026 has just wrapped up, but Digital Extremes has already set the dates for next year’s convention. TennoCon 2027 will take place in London, Ontario, Canada, on July 16-17, 2027.

The developer has promised to share more details soon. This year, TennoCon tickets went on sale in February and sold out almost immediately.

In the meantime, they have also confirmed the dates for several upcoming TennoVIP events this fall, which will occur in Seoul on September 4, Xi’an on September 12, London on October 2, and Glasgow on October 4.
