Exciting News: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Demo Now Available for Switch 2 and Xbox!

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth isn’t set to launch for another month on Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S, but players itching to dive in can get a sneak peek with a surprise demo that dropped on Tuesday. This free trial kicks off players at the start of the expansive RPG journey and will allow progress to carry over to the full release on June 3.

The demo features Chapters 1 and 2 of the complete game, giving players several hours to explore the remake sequel before making a purchase decision. Players will traverse from Kalm to the Grasslands as Cloud and his allies evade capture by Shinra forces while searching for clues about Sephiroth. It also includes the memorable flashback to Nibelheim, where Cloud and Sephiroth join forces.

Crucially, the demo offers a glimpse into Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’s new systems and the overall gameplay experience. It will introduce Queen’s Blood, the sequel’s engaging card-based mini-game, along with Chocobos. Players will quickly discover whether Rebirth’s open-world design is packed with enjoyable activities or feels like a grind.

Additionally, this demo serves as a test for how well the latest RPG performs on Switch 2 hardware. Final Fantasy VII Remake, originally a PS4 title, made some graphical sacrifices and ran at 30fps, but still delivered a solid experience. Rebirth is a more ambitious project with a significantly larger world. Here’s hoping the Switch 2 can handle it, especially with Final Fantasy VII Remake part 3 on the horizon. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for a first look at the trilogy’s final chapter during June’s summer gaming showcase.
