Expedition 33 Star Threatens ‘Murderous Rage’ If Not Cast in Upcoming Film

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 made a massive impact on the gaming scene when it launched in April 2025. Sandfall Interactive’s first RPG sold over 8 million copies and snagged numerous awards. The excitement surrounding the game started long before its release.

In January 2025, it was revealed that a movie adaptation of Expedition 33 was in the works. Although updates have been sparse since then, fans have been busy casting their dream actors for the roles. One standout from the game is Rich Keeble, the voice behind the quirky, foot-obsessed warrior Monoco. However, he hasn’t been approached about reprising his role.

“I don’t know anything about how that film is going on,” Keeble shared in a recent video interview. “I would love to play Monoco in any shape or form, but obviously they’re going to get famous people in to play the characters where possible.”

He speculated that since Monoco will likely be brought to life through CGI or motion capture—hopefully not AI—there’s a chance he could record his voice from a studio in London. “I’ll do it here,” he said. “I’ll do it in my booth right now.”

Monoco has captured the hearts of players, largely due to the humor he injects into an otherwise serious narrative. This is thanks to the game’s strong writing and Keeble’s comedic timing, which stems from his background in stand-up comedy and sketch shows.

“In British TV comedy, certainly now there’s often a note or a direction where you don’t want to overplay it,” he explained, applying that subtlety to his portrayal of Monoco, who, while being the game’s funniest character, doesn’t overtly tell jokes. “The characters believe what they’re saying; they don’t think it’s funny, and that’s where the comedy comes from.”

Keeble’s humor shone through during his interview when he quipped, “I invite every fan to boycott that film unless I can voice Monoco, or I will be filled with murderous rage.”

While some actors prefer to avoid watching their own films, Keeble is eager to see the Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 movie in theaters—on one condition, of course.

“Oh yes, I will be depending on whether I’m in it or not.”
