Explore Bubbly Basin in Pokémon Pokopia and get a sneak peek at DLC 2!

Recent leaks hinted that Bubbly Basin, the first segment of Pokémon Pokopia’s DLC, would launch on August 5, and it turns out they were right on the money. On Wednesday, The Pokémon Company unveiled fresh details along with a trailer for the expansion pass, confirming that Bubbly Basin will be available next Wednesday on Nintendo Switch 2.

In addition to announcing the release date, new features and details for each part of the DLC were shared, including a second installment set to arrive in 2026.

The main highlight of Pokémon Pokopia’s new DLC is the exploration of underwater environments. This could pose a challenge since Ditto can only hold its breath for a limited time. Fortunately, a free software update will roll out alongside Bubbly Basin on August 5, allowing players to interact with Manaphy to learn the Dive move, enabling Ditto to breathe underwater.

Once players master diving, they can easily access the town of Bubbly Basin and the mysterious depths of the ocean, which will be introduced with the first part of the paid DLC. In Bubbly Basin, players will encounter a variety of previously unreachable Pokémon, including Totodile, Popplio, and Finneon. Similar to the surface gameplay, the objective will be to enhance the town’s environmental level and create habitats for the Pokémon they discover.

There will be a plethora of new furniture pieces to collect, a new crop to cultivate, and food to prepare. One standout feature highlighted in the trailer is the Buoyant Block, which enables players to construct floating structures. This opens up creative possibilities for building enchanting underwater dwellings.

These are just a few of the exciting features players can expect in the first part of the expansion pass. Here’s a glimpse of what fans can look forward to:

New details about the second part of the expansion pass were also revealed, focusing on customization. This will introduce a wealth of accessories for Ditto and other Pokémon, along with hundreds of furniture and decorative items. This segment of the DLC is set to launch in late 2026. While not much is known about the third and final part of Pokémon Pokopia’s DLC, the trailer indicates it will be released in 2027 and will introduce a new town, as part two will not include one.

Players who purchase the Pokémon Pokopia expansion pass will receive exclusive in-game rewards, such as the Dynamic Ditto print recipe and 30 Rare Pokémetal ingots.

The paid expansion pass will also bring a wealth of new underwater content to the life simulation experience.
