Facebook Introduces AI-Driven Animation for Profile Pictures

Facebook is introducing exciting new AI features that allow you to bring your profile picture to life and give a fresh look to your Stories and Memories. You can now add animated backgrounds to your text posts, making them stand out in the feed.

With the animated profile pictures, you can transform a static image into something dynamic using various preset animations like “natural, party hat, confetti, wave, and heart.” For the best results, it’s recommended to use a photo of a single person facing the camera with a clear view of their face and without any objects in hand. More animation options are expected to roll out throughout the year.

To give your Stories or Memories a new flair, simply tap the Restyle button and either describe the changes you want the AI to make or choose from pre-set styles like “anime” or “low-poly.” When creating text posts, look for an A icon on a rainbow background to access a menu of animated and still background styles to enhance your content.

Facebook remains a massive platform, boasting over 2 billion daily active users. Recently, there’s been a push to make Facebook feel more culturally relevant again, with the CEO expressing a desire to return to the platform’s original vibe. This includes the introduction of a friends-only feed that eliminates algorithm-driven clutter.
