Facebook Introduces AI Tools for Personalized Feed Customization

Facebook has rolled out a new feature called “Your Algorithm,” allowing users to directly manage the topics they want to see in their feeds and on Facebook Reels. According to Meta, your recommendations will adjust immediately after you indicate your preferences by selecting “interested” or “not interested” for various topics. This feature first appeared on Instagram earlier this year, and a similar option called “Dear Algo” was introduced on Threads.

Users can access Your Algorithm or choose “interested” or “not interested” from the three dots menu on individual posts. These buttons may also be visible beneath posts, and Meta mentions that it might pose follow-up questions to gather more details about your likes or dislikes. You can express in your own words what you want to see more or less of, and your recommendations will update in real time.

This new functionality is part of a suite of “AI-powered” tools that Meta claims are designed to tailor the user experience on Facebook. The company is also integrating large language models (LLMs) into its ranking systems, stating that these models can understand interests, context, and intent behind natural language. This allows for an interactive algorithm that you can communicate with directly. Just tell it what you want more or less of, and your recommendations will adapt in real time, reflecting your current preferences.
