Fairphone to Release New Repairable Wireless Earbuds on October 14th

After recent leaks hinted at a significant redesign and an official teaser was shared on social media, Fairphone has revealed some exciting details about the upcoming Fairbuds 2, the successor to their original wireless earbuds that launched over two years ago.

A full unveiling is set for October 14th, but it’s confirmed that the Fairbuds 2 will maintain the same commitment to repairability that distinguished the first generation, featuring “seven fully replaceable and modular parts.” Additionally, the new model will enhance Bluetooth functionality by incorporating support for Sony’s high-resolution and adaptive LDAC codec, expanding beyond the SBC and AAC codecs supported by the original Fairbuds, which are similar to those found in Apple’s AirPods.

Fairphone has announced that the Fairbuds 2 will first hit the European market at a price of €119, with a subsequent release in the US for $119. The first-generation Fairbuds launched at €149 in 2024 (approximately $162 at that time) but have since dropped to a more accessible price of $99.99 in the US.
