Fallout Season 2 Boosts Steam Player Count for the Entire Series, Including Classics and New Vegas

The return of the Fallout TV series has sparked a renewed interest in the games, leading to a noticeable increase in player activity across the franchise.

With Season 2 of Fallout in full swing and characters like Lucy and The Ghoul back in the wasteland (I just wrapped up Season 1), it’s no surprise that fans of the show are either reminiscing about their love for the games or feeling the urge to dive back in. We saw a similar trend back in 2024 when Season 1 premiered, and it appears the Amazon Prime series has once again made an impact. A quick look at player stats reveals the surge.

Fallout: New Vegas has seen a significant rise, jumping from a peak of 8,317 players in November to an impressive 19,216 during the new season. This uptick makes sense, considering this season is set in the same area as Obsidian Entertainment’s beloved RPG (and let’s be honest, it’s often hailed as the best Fallout game).

However, New Vegas still trails behind the more user-friendly Fallout 4, which is easier to jump into without the hassle of modding. The latest mainline entry surged from a peak of 25,238 players in November to a staggering 44,273 in January. Even Fallout 76, which has had its share of controversy, has experienced a boost, climbing from 14,628 in November to 29,264. Both of these titles are readily available on PlayStation and Xbox, making them the clear winners in this wave of renewed interest.

This trend isn’t limited to the big titles; Fallout 1, 2, 3, and even spin-offs like Fallout Tactics and Shelter have also seen increases on Steam. I personally picked up Fallout 1 and New Vegas over the holidays, so I’m not immune to the nostalgia, and it seems many others are feeling the same way.
