In a bit of a surprise, the finale of Fallout season 2 includes a post-credits scene that continues the storyline of a major faction omitted from episode 8, while also setting the stage for a significant threat in Fallout season 3.
Since Fallout rarely includes after-credits surprises, you might miss the Brotherhood-shaped twist if you don’t stick around. Below, we’ll cover everything you might have missed or are curious about, including the number of post-credits scenes in the Fallout finale and what they might hint at regarding the games.
After you’ve read through, be sure to check back for our comprehensive breakdown of the Fallout season 2 ending and an overview of the Easter eggs that enriched each episode with game references. Spoilers ahead.
Unlike the MCU, there is only one post-credits scene in Fallout season 2 to catch after episode 8 wraps up. This scene, which we’ll discuss in detail shortly, runs for about 90 seconds.
Before that, it’s worth watching the title credits sequence of the Fallout finale. It offers clues about the next steps in our characters’ journeys, including the New California Republic establishing a presence in New Vegas, the Legion surrounding the settlement, and a Ghoul heading to the Rockies and Colorado in search of the Enclave and his missing family.
As a battle rages outside at the Brotherhood of Steel’s camp—likely quelling the latest factional conflicts—Dane (Xelia Mendes-Jones) arrives to assist their chapter by delivering crucial documents to the beleaguered Quintus (Michael Cristofer).
“The remnants you requested,” Dane states. “Open it,” Quintus replies sharply.
The Brotherhood Elder continues, “Out of the virtue in my heart, I tried to unify the Brotherhood. Look what it got me. No matter. Quintus the Unifier is dead. Quintus the Destroyer is born.”
Once revealed, his sinister plan becomes clear to those familiar with the games. These documents contain blueprints for Liberty Prime Alpha, an early version of the massive Liberty Prime robot originally designed to end the war with China in pre-war Alaska.
In Fallout 3, Liberty Prime serves as a powerful ally that aids the Lone Wanderer in accessing the facility to activate the water purifier.
After being destroyed by the Enclave, players can rebuild it in Fallout 4. If you align with the Brotherhood, they will use Liberty Prime to assault the Institute.
In essence, the Brotherhood now possesses a weapon that, once constructed, can easily overpower Caesar’s Legion, the New California Republic, and any other faction that stands in Quintus’ way.
The Brotherhood is no longer a peripheral force in Fallout’s narrative; instead, they are thrust into the spotlight with a superweapon that could dominate the entire wasteland. Looking ahead, Liberty Prime could serve as a crucial wildcard in a potential endgame conflict against the Enclave, benefiting the Ghoul, Lucy, and Maximus.
Thus, the Fallout season 2 finale post-credits scene is much more than just an afterthought. It could be a blueprint for the next few years of Fallout storytelling—and a potential key to the series’ overall conclusion, especially if the Enclave continues to gain strength.
