Fans Continue to Modify Leon’s Porsche in Resident Evil Requiem

In a standout instance of video game product placement, Leon Kennedy takes the wheel of a custom Porsche in Resident Evil Requiem. He looks effortlessly cool behind the wheel, and the interior shots as he zips through the city match his over-the-top, suave persona. It seems Capcom and Porsche got their money’s worth, but the focus on Leon’s flashy ride has made it a prime target for modders.

Leon’s Porsche makes its appearance in the early parts of Requiem, but Capcom seems protective of it; you can’t shoot the car once Leon parks it. While you can blast away at other vehicles, it’s likely that the product placement deal included a clause to keep the car safe. The modding community thrives on inserting the most outrageous characters or objects into games, and since Leon drives both a luxury car and a slick motorcycle in Requiem, modders have had a field day swapping out his rides for some hilarious alternatives, from the Spongebob Squarepants Patty Wagon to a motorized wheelchair.

Somehow, Leon still manages to look cool driving a sandwich. With these mods and transformations like turning an early-game monster into Shrek, you can easily strip away the seriousness of Resident Evil Requiem, making it less scary. After all, it’s tough to feel frightened when the spiders resemble Thomas the Tank Engine.
