With Scream 7 on the horizon, fans are speculating about its biggest mystery, which has nothing to do with Ghostface’s identity.
The film will introduce Sidney’s adult daughter, Tatum, portrayed by Isabel May. This raises questions since it implies Tatum was born before Scream 4, leading fans to wonder how that timeline works.
There’s no mention of Sidney’s daughter in the fourth film or any subsequent ones, and when we last saw Sidney in Scream 5, her children appeared to be much younger than Tatum.
“It was mentioned even before production that there’s a time jump in Scream 7. Plus, the Scream timeline is already pretty convoluted – even without Scream 7,” one fan noted.
“Maybe Sidney just wanted to keep her personal life private and didn’t feel the need to discuss it, or maybe she simply didn’t have the time,” suggested another.
“Honestly, this doesn’t bother me because she had no opportunity to mention having a kid in 4,” added another fan.
However, not everyone is on board. “Then who were the babies she was pushing in Scream 5? Just a lame excuse to cover their mistake.”
“Which means she should have been Mark’s daughter from a previous marriage… so tired of lazy writing,” commented another.
It remains to be seen how Scream 7 will handle Tatum’s backstory, but it could make sense if the film suggests Tatum was born before Scream 4, with Sidney keeping her existence under wraps. After all, the new films have already introduced Billy Loomis’s surprise daughter without prior setup.
