Fans Speculate on Unannounced Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Remake After Domain Name Leak
After nearly a year of speculation, fans are buzzing with excitement over the possibility of a remake for Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, especially with a new web domain hinting at an official announcement from Ubisoft.
When it comes to the Assassin’s Creed series and titles inspired by 80s punk bands, Black Flag stands out as a top contender in both realms. The trend of remaking beloved classics has proven successful for other developers, so it’s no surprise that Ubisoft might be revisiting this iconic pirate adventure. However, despite a promising 2025 filled with age ratings, hints from voice actors, and even a leaked title, the remake remains under wraps.
Recently, the domain for Black Flag Resynced was updated, sparking curiosity about when Ubisoft will finally make an official announcement. The unofficial Assassin’s Creed News Twitter account highlighted the domain “ASSASSINSCREEDBLACKFLAGRESYNCED.COM,” which aligns with the rumored title of the remake, as indicated by a PEGI age rating.
Fans are eager for news, with one user expressing frustration over the wait, questioning Ubisoft’s timeline. Another theorizes that the delay might be linked to the recent release of an Edward Kenway webtoon.
Digging into the domain details reveals it was registered by Gandi, a French company known for domain registrations, which Ubisoft has previously used for sites related to Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Mirage. While it’s not confirmed that Ubisoft owns this domain, the connections and numerous leaks suggest a strong possibility.
The domain was created on December 9 and updated the same day, coinciding with the appearance of the PEGI age rating for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, which was quickly taken down.
Rumors suggest the remake could launch before the end of March 2026, meaning Ubisoft is running out of time to make an announcement unless they plan to surprise everyone with a stealth drop, reminiscent of Oblivion Remastered. Given that stealth has never been the series’ strongest suit, it’s fitting that Ubisoft seems to be struggling to keep this one under wraps.
