Filming for Fallout Season 3 Set to Begin Next Summer as Director Jonathan Nolan Calls Out TV’s Growing Season Gaps

As we gear up for the arrival of Fallout Season 2 next week, executive producer Jonathan Nolan has shared some exciting updates about the future of the series. Filming for the new episodes is set to kick off next summer, which could potentially lead to a release in 2027.

Nolan expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “With regards to production, we’re hoping to be shooting again next summer. We’ll see if that all comes together, best laid plans, and all. But I’m excited that, though the scope of the show feels undiminished season on season, our incredibly talented cast and crew were able to work quickly enough to get back on the air in a reasonable amount of time.”

He also commented on the trend of longer gaps between seasons in television, saying, “I think what’s happened with television in terms of taking longer and longer from season to season is an unfortunate trend. You don’t want the show to lose any of its scope, but we know that we’d like to be back on the air as soon as we can.”

The announcement of a third season back in May, well ahead of Season 2’s debut, showcases the platform’s confidence in the series. The first season was a standout success, ranking among the top three most-watched titles on the platform.

Season 2 will continue the narrative right from the cliffhanger where Lucy discovers her father’s true identity and sets off into the desert with The Ghoul. Viewers can expect to follow their adventures in and around New Vegas, with a new trailer hinting at thrilling moments, including a Radroach attack and encounters with a Deathclaw, all inspired by the beloved video games.

Mark your calendars: Fallout Season 2 premieres on December 17.
