Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Welcomes New Critical Role Cast Member
The cast of Critical Role is making waves in Final Fantasy 7 Revelation. At a recent panel during New York Comic Con, it was revealed that Marisha Ray will be voicing a new version of Shiva in the third installment of the remake trilogy. She’ll be joining her fellow Critical Role cast members, with Matt Mercer lending his voice to Vincent Valentine and Travis Willingham stepping into the role of Sephiroth, previously voiced by Tyler Hoechlin.
Fans can catch a glimpse of Ray’s performance in a clip shared on social media, showcasing her portrayal of Polydroid Shiva. This version of the beloved ice summon appears to be a digital take rather than the traditional in-battle summon. Interestingly, Polydroid Shiva seems to be involved in the Gold Saucer’s snowboarding mini-game, confirming that this fan-favorite feature from the original 1997 game will make a return.
In the clip, Polydroid Shiva encourages Vincent to showcase his snowboarding skills. Ray and Mercer, who are married, display a natural chemistry that adds to the moment. Mercer humorously mentioned during the panel that he initially worried Ray might have been cast due to nepotism, only to find out that the team had no idea they were married. “That’s right, you earned that, baby,” he playfully called out to her from the front row.
The panel also delved into the cast’s experiences as they wrapped up their work on the trilogy. Another clip provided a behind-the-scenes look at the final recording sessions, where both Briana White and Britt Baron, the voices of Aerith and Tifa, were visibly emotional, with Baron describing it as “the role of a lifetime.”
As the trilogy approaches its conclusion, players can expect an equally emotional journey. Square Enix has kept fans on their toes by altering the original game’s storyline, and details about any final surprises remain under wraps. Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is set to launch on April 8, 2027.
