Final Fantasy Commander deck for Magic sees significant price drop
It’s hard to believe that the Final Fantasy set for Magic: The Gathering launched nearly a year ago, yet we’re still spotting some great deals on the preconstructed decks for Commander.
Take the Final Fantasy 6-themed Revival Trance deck, for example, which is currently available for under $40 again. While it’s typically the most affordable and easiest to find among the decks, it’s a solid choice for newcomers to the format, especially if you’re a fan of the game it draws from.
This deck is readily available at a 43% discount, making it a great option despite being less cohesive than its counterparts based on the series’ seventh, tenth, and fourteenth entries. It’s a red-white-black (Mardu) deck focused on resurrecting creatures from the graveyard to create an undead aggro army, led by the Commander: Terra, Herald of Hope.
Terra is a 3/3 creature that gains flying at the start of combat, mills two cards, and can return a creature with three or less power from the graveyard for just two generic mana whenever she deals damage. This allows you to attack freely, knowing you can bring back blockers for your opponents’ next turn.
The other Commander option is Celes, Rune Knight, who adds +1/+1 counters to creatures as they return from the graveyard. This synergy means the two Commanders complement each other rather than offering different playstyles.
Additionally, this precon includes a “Collector Sample Booster Pack,” which isn’t included with sets released in 2026. While it only contains two cards, they may feature alternate art from the Final Fantasy set. While this isn’t a reason to buy Revival Trance on its own, it’s a nice bonus.
Most creatures in this deck have 3 power or less, but there are notable exceptions like Sabin, Master Monk, and Kefka, Dancing Mad. This opens up space to include some colored crystals and red, white, or black creatures that better align with Terra’s abilities. Ironically, the other version of Terra, Magical Adept, has four power and doesn’t quite fit this deck.
Great additions include Vincent Valentine, Squall, SeeD Mercenary, Rosa, Resolute White Mage, Sephiroth, Fabled SOLDIER, and Aerith Gainsborough, especially if you want to lean into the Final Fantasy theme. Squall grants Terra double strike when she attacks alone, while Sephiroth allows you to sacrifice a creature to fill your graveyard for Terra to utilize, drawing a card and causing your opponents to lose 1 life while you gain 1 life. If Aerith is on the battlefield during this, she gains a +1/+1 counter. If she dies—perhaps fittingly sacrificed by Sephiroth—all your legendary creatures receive copies of her counters, and then Terra can bring her back!
While the Final Fantasy 10 Counter Blitz and Final Fantasy 7 Limit Break Commander decks are often regarded as the stronger precons in this set, Revival Trance is hard to resist at this price, especially for dedicated FF6 fans looking to enjoy some Magic. But act fast, as this deal is already more than half claimed!
