Final Fantasy’s top MMO just got more accessible than ever!
Have you checked out the beloved Final Fantasy 14? If you haven’t, you might want to dive into its older, yet equally impressive sibling, Final Fantasy 11. Even though Square Enix’s first venture into the realm of massively multiplayer Final Fantasy games is over twenty years old, it remains vibrant and engaging. Recently, the game has become even more accessible thanks to a long-awaited update to its free trial, giving you every reason to jump in.
Square Enix had previously hinted at removing the time limit on Final Fantasy 11’s free trial, and that change is now live. The announcement was made on the PlayOnline website, which has a charmingly retro vibe, much like the game itself. The exciting news is that the old 14-day limit is gone, allowing players on the free trial to explore the game for as long as they wish. As Square Enix stated, “Take your time to level up your character and visit various areas in the game. This is your chance to go on adventures with your friends and get the most out of your life in Vana’diel.”
But there’s more! Free trial players can now level their characters up to 75, a significant increase from the previous cap of 50. Plus, if you had a free trial account that expired, you can now jump back into the game without the time constraints.
The removal of the time limit makes Final Fantasy 11 much more inviting for those hesitant to commit to a monthly subscription for a classic MMO that still delivers a fantastic experience. However, there are still some restrictions that new players should be aware of. Here’s a rundown of those limitations:
Many of these restrictions mirror those found in Final Fantasy 14, with the notable exception of access to expansion content. While Final Fantasy 11 has seen several expansions, free trial players won’t have access to them, which is a bit disappointing. Nonetheless, there’s still a wealth of content to enjoy from the base game. Some restrictions, like the inability to invite others to form a party, can be navigated by teaming up with someone who has a paid account. Don’t let that discourage you, though; Final Fantasy 11 is surprisingly accommodating for solo players.
