Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave DLC Addresses Major Controversy

It’s an exciting time for fans of Fire Emblem. Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave launched in September 2026 to both commercial success and critical praise. The game successfully revives the beloved elements of the series while also introducing some fresh innovations. And there’s even more on the horizon.

In a surprise announcement earlier this week, it was revealed that Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave will be getting multiple DLCs. The expansion pass is now available, packed with new content including weapons, allies, outfits, and the most thrilling addition: new story routes.

The first wave introduces four new weapons, accessible through the Fortune’s Weave expansion pass on the Nintendo eShop. Dubbed Prototypes, these weapons draw inspiration from the Heroes’ Relics found in Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Here’s a rundown of the four weapons and their original owners from Three Houses.

The second wave will bring new outfits and allies to enhance your roster, expected to drop during the 2026 holiday season.

Flame Lords Cai, Dietrich, Theodora, and Leda will each receive new outfits, which players can switch back to their original looks at any time. Even better, these outfits can be worn by allies, allowing your entire team to sport the colors of your favorite in-game faction.

Players will also get the chance to play as the Dagdan gods Aurora, Smyrnos, and Jurah in Part 3, where these divine beings join the Promised One’s army. While they aren’t invincible and can fall in battle, their immense power adds a significant advantage you won’t want to miss.

The most thrilling news, however, is the third wave of content, which will introduce four new story arcs to Fortune’s Weave. These narratives will center around the four rival lords: Anatolia, Talimun, Orchel, and Bertrand.

Fans learned from an AMA that Fortune’s Weave initially planned for eight protagonists, but the team deemed that too ambitious and scaled it back to four, adding avatar character Eshmel to connect the routes.

However, it seems Intelligent Systems has reconsidered: Wave 3 will include chapters focusing on these previously cut lords and their stories. Given that many players are already navigating four routes in an extensive game, tackling four additional ones will be quite the undertaking.

Nonetheless, fans have been clamoring for the return of these cut routes since Fortune’s Weave launched in September. The strong demand may have influenced the decision to bring these routes back, but it’s likely they were already in development and just needed more time to polish — hence the vague release window for this third wave, set for beyond 2027.

In any case, more content for Fortune’s Weave is on the way, and like many others who have been immersed in the game since its release, we can’t hide our excitement for what’s to come.
