Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance Now Available in Switch Online’s GameCube Classics Collection

As we gear up for the launch of Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave later this year, Nintendo has added Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance to the Switch 2’s lineup of GameCube classics. Celebrated as one of the standout titles in the series, Path of Radiance will be accessible to all Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers. Originally released in 2005, this game garnered praise for its gripping narrative, mature themes, and its status as the first 3D entry in the Fire Emblem franchise. Set on the fictional continent of Tellius, players follow the mercenary Ike and his allies on a quest to rescue a princess and defend the kingdom of Crimea from the invading Daein forces. Like its predecessors, Path of Radiance is a turn-based tactical RPG that incorporates permadeath, meaning any character who falls in battle is lost for the remainder of the game. A sequel, Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, followed on the Nintendo Wii in 2007. The GameCube Classics collection has steadily expanded since its debut last year, now featuring titles like Super Mario Strikers, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, and F-Zero GX. Each game has been enhanced with higher resolution graphics compared to their original versions, and for those seeking a nostalgic experience, Nintendo offers a wireless controller modeled after the classic GameCube controller. While a specific release date for Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is still under wraps, it is anticipated to launch later this year. The game was first announced in September 2025, and the initial trailer suggested it may share continuity with 2019’s Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
