Firefox on iOS introduces new ad-blocking feature.

Mozilla is rolling out ad blocking for Firefox on iOS today, following a testing phase over the past few weeks. This new built-in feature will prevent most third-party ads and trackers from loading on your iPhone, helping to save bandwidth and streamline mobile browsing.

Utilizing Apple’s WebKit Content Blocker technology along with the EasyList filter, Firefox on iOS allows you to block ads without needing to install any additional extensions. You can manage the ad blocking feature in the Firefox settings on iOS, but it’s turned off by default, so you’ll need to enable it by navigating to settings > browsing > ad blocker. Additionally, you can easily toggle it on or off during your browsing session via the site menu.

However, not all ads will be blocked. Ads that are served directly from a website or those displayed in search results will still be visible. Naturally, sponsored shortcuts and other promotional content that appears when you open a new tab in Firefox will also remain unaffected.

This marks the first time Firefox has introduced ad blocking on iOS, but it’s worth noting that several competing browsers, such as Brave, Vivaldi, and Opera, already feature similar ad-blocking capabilities on the platform.
