First Full Trailer for Avengers: Doomsday Reveals RDJ as Doctor Doom
The first full trailer for *Avengers: Doomsday* has dropped, giving fans an exciting look at the film’s extensive cast and marking the return of Robert Downey Jr. as the formidable Doctor Doom.
After months of anticipation, Marvel Studios has finally delivered what fans have been eagerly awaiting. Following a series of short character teasers featuring Steve Rogers, Thor, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, Wakandans, and Namor, we now have a substantial two-and-a-half-minute trailer for *Avengers: Doomsday*.
The trailer kicks off with a glimpse of the returning X-Men and our first look at Doctor Doom, complete with a hint of Downey’s Latverian accent. The focus then shifts to Thor (Chris Hemsworth) as he briefs the Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts, Avengers, and others on the immense threat posed by Doom. This is underscored in a brief action sequence where Thor attacks Doom with Stormbreaker, only for the Latverian lord to effortlessly deflect the strike.
“We’re going to need a miracle,” Thor declares, just before Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) makes a surprising entrance, leaving Thor momentarily stunned. But Mjölnir seems to have faith in Steve’s return, as he arrives in a surprisingly casual outfit ready to save the day.
Marvel Studios and the Russo brothers are positioning Doctor Doom as an almost unstoppable, godlike menace, far more dangerous than Thanos, Ultron, or Loki. At least this time, the Avengers have Loki on their side.
Here’s the official synopsis for the film:
*Avengers: Doomsday* brings together beloved heroes from three different universes as they face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve encountered before.
The highly anticipated trailer arrives just as tickets for the film go on sale and ahead of Marvel’s return to San Diego Comic-Con later this week.
After a string of underwhelming box office performances for its superhero films, Marvel Studios aims to recapture the magic of *Avengers: Endgame* with a star-studded lineup that revisits characters from over a decade of the MCU and the Fox era of X-Men films. Even Shang-Chi is making a comeback! Directors Joe and Anthony Russo are back at the helm, tasked with reigniting both cultural interest and box office success.
The upcoming Avengers film features Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, alongside returning Marvel favorites like Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, Tenoch Huerta Mejía as Namor, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Joseph Quinn as the Human Torch, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the Thing, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Florence Pugh as White Widow, Kelsey Grammer as the Beast, Lewis Pullman as Sentry, Danny Ramirez as Falcon, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops, and Channing Tatum as Gambit.
*Avengers: Doomsday* hits theaters on December 18, coinciding with the premiere of *Dune: Part Three*. A direct sequel, *Avengers: Secret Wars*, is already in the pipeline for 2027.
While Doctor Doom may resemble Tony Stark to the Avengers, he’s definitely channeling a more ominous vibe akin to Griffith.
