Original story continues below:
Today, a few minutes of footage from a build of EA Motive’s upcoming Iron Man game surfaced online. While it’s clear there’s still work to be done, the flight mechanics look incredibly fun.
The clip, which has been shared on various platforms, is just over two and a half minutes long. It kicks off with Iron Man soaring into the sky and zooming around what appears to be a large city (possibly Chicago?) using his jet boots. The footage includes some unfinished cutscenes and showcases combat where Iron Man slams enemies into the ground and hurls them away.
We also get some close-up shots of Tony Stark’s face, more combat featuring missiles and lasers, and a final glimpse of Tony making adjustments to his suit, hinting at player customization. Familiar characters like Pepper Potts and James Rhodes (Rhodey) make appearances as well.
Some parts of the footage still use placeholder assets, and the video is marked as “AUG26 TEST.” If this is indeed legitimate (and it looks quite convincing), it’s still a work in progress. However, what’s shown is impressive, especially the flight mechanics, which seem to draw inspiration from the canceled game Anthem, known for its slick jet-boot travel.
EA Motive’s Iron Man was first announced back in 2022, but the studio has remained tight-lipped about the project since then, especially following multiple rounds of layoffs and project cancellations, including a Black Panther game and the closure of Cliffhanger Games. EA Motive’s recent releases include a remake of Dead Space and co-development on Battlefield 6.
Interestingly, this isn’t the only Iron Man game leak this week, as earlier gameplay footage from Avalanche Studios’ unrelated Iron Man game from the 2010s also emerged.
As for this Iron Man title, there’s no release date yet, leaving us in the dark about how far off it might be. The leaked trailer featured a section labeled “Release Window,” but no actual date was provided. Perhaps a release window announcement is on the horizon once the trailer is finalized?
