First Look at Rachel Weisz in The Mummy 4 Set Photos

Fans who grew up watching the 1999 classic The Mummy on repeat were thrilled to hear last year that a new sequel is on the horizon. Not only is Brendan Fraser returning as Rick O’Connell, but Rachel Weisz will also reprise her role as Evie Carnahan, marking her comeback after skipping the third installment, Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. Recently, set photos from the upcoming fourth film surfaced online, showcasing Evie’s fresh look and hinting at the film’s timeline.

Set photos revealed Weisz looking stylish as ever while filming in front of the British Museum, a significant location from The Mummy Returns. Reports suggest that these scenes will occur early in the new movie.

The presence of a transistor radio in Weisz’s hands indicates that the story is likely set in the late 1950s, approximately 30 years after the original film’s 1926 timeline. Details about the plot remain scarce, and the film still lacks an official title.

The Mummy franchise has faced challenges since Weisz’s last appearance. She opted out of the poorly received third film, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, due to a lackluster script and her desire to spend time with her young son. A reboot featuring Tom Cruise in 2017 also failed to impress audiences, mirroring the reception of Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

The Mummy 4 aims to tap into nostalgia and revive the franchise. Alongside Fraser and Weisz, the film will see the return of Oded Fehr as Ardeth Bay, John Hannah as Jonathan Carnahan, Arnold Vosloo as Imhotep, and Kevin J. O’Connor as Beni Gabor, who met his end in the first film. Fans can look forward to its release on October 15, 2027.

Decades of anticipation culminate in one fateful call.
