First Trailer Drops for Netflix and David Fincher’s Sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

A new trailer has dropped for the upcoming spin-off, *The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth*, and it’s packed with the kind of over-the-top action and retro flair that fans of Quentin Tarantino have come to love. Once again, Brad Pitt steps into the shoes of former Hollywood stuntman Cliff Booth, who finds himself embroiled in a series of violent escapades while taking on various odd jobs in the film industry.

Set in 1977, eight years after the events of *Once Upon a Time in Hollywood*, this new story continues to follow Cliff Booth, who previously encountered a notorious cult.

One standout moment in the trailer references a controversial scene from the original film: the fight between Cliff and Bruce Lee. This portrayal sparked backlash from some, including the Bruce Lee estate, who felt Lee was depicted as an arrogant character who gets bested by Cliff. While some argued that Cliff’s perspective might not be entirely reliable, Tarantino weighed in, suggesting that Bruce Lee had a bit of an arrogant streak. Recently, Tarantino also faced criticism for calling out Paul Dano regarding his role in *There Will Be Blood*.

David Fincher is at the helm of *The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth*, marking his third consecutive project with Netflix, following *Mank* (2020) and *The Killer* (2023). Tarantino, who directed and wrote the original film, also penned this sequel, making it the first film he’s written but not directed since 1996’s *From Dusk Till Dawn*. In a recent interview, Brad Pitt mentioned that Tarantino chose not to direct this time, which opened the door for Fincher.

While Tarantino hasn’t publicly explained his decision, it’s speculated that he may want to adhere to his self-imposed “10 film rule,” which states that he plans to retire after directing ten films. Although he’s technically reached that number, he considers *Kill Bill* as one film split into two parts.

Alongside Brad Pitt, the cast includes Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and others.

*The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth* is set to hit IMAX theaters on November 25, 2026, for a two-week run before streaming on Netflix starting December 23, 2026.
