First Trailer Reveals Spider-Noir as a Gritty Thriller
While we may have to wait a bit longer for more of Sony’s animated Spider-Verse or Marvel’s live-action adventures with Peter Parker, Amazon’s Spider-Noir series is just around the corner. Today, a new trailer dropped for the upcoming Spider-Noir, featuring Nicolas Cage as a gritty variant of Spider-Man. Set in an alternate 1930s reality, the series follows private investigator Ben Reilly (Cage) as he returns to crime-fighting under the alias “The Spider.” As the sole superhero in his city, Reilly understands that he’s the only one equipped to tackle threats like mob boss Silvermane (Brendan Gleeson). However, grappling with personal loss makes it challenging for him to embrace his heroic role once again. The black-and-white trailer, which also has a color version available, showcases characters like club owner Cat Hardy (Li Jun Li) and reporter Robbie Robertson (Lamorne Morris), giving viewers a taste of the moody atmosphere and dark aesthetic that Spider-Noir will embody. Interestingly, Amazon plans to premiere the show on MGM Plus on May 25th before it becomes available on Prime Video on the 27th. While it remains uncertain if the series will connect to Sony’s broader Spider-Man universe, Spider-Noir certainly has the potential to impress.
