Following the iconic bear moment in Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian hints at exciting developments for Divinity’s lizards: “I’m working on it now.”
Larian Studios certainly made some bold choices with the infamous bear scene in Baldur’s Gate 3. That particular moment, featuring an intimate encounter with Halsin, has left a lasting impression on many players of the acclaimed RPG. Naturally, fans are curious if similar experiences await with the lizard folk in the upcoming Divinity game, and the answer is looking promising.
Larian is set to host an ‘ask me anything’ session on Reddit soon, and in response to their announcement, a fan jumped straight in with, “Can I have intimate relations with the lizards?” Larian’s reply was a cheeky edited Pingu meme that now reads, “I am doing it right now.”
I don’t want to jump to conclusions or make assumptions here. This is the internet, where we often communicate through layers of memes and obscure references. Pingu, a Swiss TV show from the ’90s, is now being invoked to address questions about relationships with anthropomorphic characters in RPGs—what a wild ride!
That said, while I hesitate to take this as definitive confirmation, it certainly hints that players might be able to explore some romantic connections with lizard characters in the new Divinity.
For those unfamiliar, the Lizards are a race of, well, lizard people that inhabit Rivellon. They’ve been part of the series since Divine Divinity, so their return in this installment seems all but guaranteed.
Given the unexpected nature of the bear scene, it’s clear that Larian is willing to push boundaries in ways that might surprise us. Who knows what else they might have in store? I won’t tempt fate by suggesting anything further, as my imagination might just run wild.
In related news, the CEO of Witchfire has commented that the Divinity developers are “definitely not evil” for exploring AI, but acknowledges the backlash comes from a desire for genuine human connection through art.
