Football Manager Offers Free Access to This Year’s Game After Last Release Received Backlash

Last year’s Football Manager 26 left a lot to be desired, with players labeling it a buggy and clunky experience. This disappointment was amplified by the fact that the series had taken a year off to give FM26 more development time. In an effort to regain player trust and demonstrate improvements, this year’s Football Manager 27 is launching a free early-access preview.

On Wednesday, it was announced that the soccer management simulator Football Manager 27 will be available for free on PC and Mac ahead of its official release on November 10. From October 29 to November 3, players can download and experience the full game without any restrictions or complicated steps. All you need to do is download it from your preferred platform and dive in. However, this free preview won’t be available on consoles.

The studio clarified that the FM27 Launch Preview is a replacement for what was previously known as Beta or Advanced Access, aiming to provide a more polished experience that closely resembles the final product. Players can continue any games started during the free period into both the paid Launch Preview and the full launch without needing to restart.

Addressing the feedback from Football Manager 26, which still holds mostly negative reviews on Steam, the developers promised a “clearer interface, enhanced match engine, and new layers of control on both the training ground and touchline.”

During the free preview, players will also have the opportunity to pre-order FM27 at a 10 percent discount. On Steam, they can continue their gameplay after the preview ends on November 3, leading up to the full launch on November 10.

While this approach may seem unusual, it’s a smart move given the disappointment surrounding FM26. It shows the studio’s confidence in FM27 and allows players who felt let down by the previous release to try out the new game without any financial commitment, helping them decide if it’s worth their investment.
