Fortnite Introduces a New Mode: Bean Basketball Inspired by Fall Guys and Rocket League

Epic Games is gearing up for an exciting new chapter with Fortnite’s upcoming limited-time game mode, Crown Jam, which draws inspiration from the whimsical world of Fall Guys—another title in the Epic family—and takes cues from the high-octane action of Rocket League. Set to launch on January 23 and running until February 9, this mode promises a unique blend of gameplay.

In Crown Jam, players will embody Fall Guys beans in a zany game that feels like a twisted take on basketball. Teams of three will face off against each other, aiming to score points by shooting baskets into the opposing hoop. Between the hoops lies a massive obstacle course reminiscent of Fall Guys’ signature chaos. You can catch a glimpse of the action in the trailer.

Epic describes Crown Jam as “basketball meets football meets obstacle course chaos,” and it’s clear that the essence of Rocket League is alive and well in this new mode. The combination of customizable characters and a wild, action-packed environment that fuses elements of soccer, basketball, and stunt performances worked wonders for Rocket League, and it seems poised to do the same here.

Fall Guys fans should note that the physics in Crown Jam will be a bit different. Epic has stated, “Beans are powered by real physics, so you can feel every jump, tackle, and slam-dunk.” Given the exaggerated physics present in both Fall Guys and Fortnite, it remains to be seen just how realistic this will feel.

On the rewards front, players can earn some fun prizes in Crown Jam. Simply logging into Fall Guys will grant you the Slam Dunk costume for free. Complete five matches of Crown Jam in Fortnite, and you’ll unlock a plush back bling featuring a blue Fall Guys bean. For those who excel in Crown Jam, there are additional rewards for ranked play, including a Jam Track and a back bling shaped like the crown ball.
